Week One (2025)

One week into the New Year and how am I doing with all my plans?

Utter failure. That is how!

In the early hours of New Years Day (not long after our visitors had wandered back down the hill to the village) it started to snow. Not a problem in itself, but it has made getting out and about a bit of a challenge. I also (I know, excuses!) slipped and injured my ankle and then trapped a nerve in my back so going out for walks in the snow has been off the table. Today is the first day I haven’t actually felt too sore this week but I am playing it cautious!

Work - I was out yesterday for the first of the year, then rescheduled today’s jobs into tomorrow as it has been snowing off and on all day! My car is four-wheel drive, but it is the only one that is… so I think we are absolutely going to need to get something else before next winter (if not this winter) to see us through when it gets bad! It doesn’t need to be flash, so long as I can stick some serious tyres on it, and perhaps a winch, that would be fine! I harbour ambitions for an old 70 series SWB Landcruiser but that may be pushing it a bit!

Tomorrow is looking like it could be a great day though, sunshine and cold! If so it will be great to get out (carefully) for a bit! I think that’s a 25:75 success: failure ratio!

In terms of “working on myself” or however you want to phrase it, I have managed a little bit of time playing guitar (electric and acoustic) which was nice. Reading remains a distant dream though. I have put a couple of magazine submissions in though… so I will call that a 50:50 in terms of success: failure!

Over the next week I really must try harder!

Now to put the chickens to bed… in the snow….
