Looking into 2025

2025 is here, the future! Wow, it seems like a year number from Science Fiction, but here we are!

Our plans are currently in some disarray as we await news of what is going to be done about the road into the glen and when - we are, once more, forced into stasis as we can’t progress the hut development in terms of getting either plant on site, deliveries or, indeed, the huts themselves via the current access arrangements. Which is something of a bind, to say the least.

So for the moment I will concentrate on the commercial side of photography! I want to build that up a little more this year, perhaps by offering an additional service/service level here and there to try and pull in a little more work from existing clients, or by hunting out additional revenue streams… or a little of both! It would be nice to pick up a little of the high end work so I may make that a focus and try to attract the big players in the market whom deal with estate sales and such like. But I think I will also investigate opportunities away from property too as variety is both the spice of life and also a way to help mitigate risk should one sector stall.

The new back end on the website also allows a little more leeway to do something different - so I am going to start investigating virtual workshops as a means to spread knowledge. These will probably be on a low cost - possibly subscription - model where I can provide information and explain techniques, then provide 1:1 feedback and suggestions on improvement. I haven’t quite worked out the details as yet mind!

I want to get into filming and film making more too, this may be something of a slow burner - but I have made a bit of a start on this over the last year or two and now want to scale up a touch, both in terms of some personal projects as well as in commercial work.

So this year, work wise, is basically “more of the same” with the emphasis on “more”. We really built some good foundations in 2024 and this year, I hope, will be the breakthrough year!

In terms of me… well… there is, as ever, quite a lot to work on this year. Physical and mental health have taken a bit of a beating over the last 12 months - so I need to make a little space in my life to take a little bit of care of myself. Exercise, music, reading and probably a touch of meditation looks like a good area to start! There is a lot of potential for additional stress this year and I need to get myself into a better place of resilience in case such things come to pass.

Now, time to get stuck in!
