A Slow Start

It has been a slow start to the year so far, work wise anyway. There has been plenty of other drama going on to keep me occupied with the roads, the snow and then an impromptu trip to the Capital at the weekend. This week though is looking nicely busy… not hectic, but just enough of a buzz to make it feel worthwhile. I needed this to happen as I am forever battling with imposter syndrome - when there is no work I sit there thinking “Oh no, they have found me out!”.

So today it was off to Inverness to shoot a lovely 5 bed detached house high up on the slopes overlooking the city - then a quick photo stop on the way home to keep my Photo a Day project ticking over and back… only to discover that my camera sensor is, quite frankly, disgusting! I have no idea how this has happened since the camera has barely been out the last few weeks and, whilst it needed a clean before, it wasn’t that bad when it went away. And I mean… it was BAD.

The result… I spent hours tonight cleaning up each and every one of the 40 shots taken of the property by hand. They look good now… but I shouldn’t have had to put that much work into it! My calculated prices are based on quite tight timescales and this is the second job ongoing that has blown that out of the water (although nothing close to the last one which, on time alone… and on my quite low hourly rates… should have charged out at around £3,000 more than I actually invoiced for!)

And I have now cleaned my sensor!
